The 3 step process to achieving your success

Posted in Uncategorized, Coaching by Manny on October 9th, 2007
First you need a vision - you need to define
what success is to you.

· Start by eliminating the barriers to
your success; get yourself out of
the way.

· Get you Attitude working for you.

· Know where you want to go.

· Know you can get there

· Refuse to be stopped.

Second develop “The Plan”

· Build the roadmap of how you get there

· Develop a written plan including goals,
actions and measurements

Third create the results
· Define how you are going to get
everything done and still have time
for you.

· Start getting great at what you are
already good at.

· Execute the Action - do it

· Modify and change as you need to

· Be accountable

· Measure what you are doing.

Stop looking at why it can’t be done – just do it?

Posted in Uncategorized, Coaching by Manny on October 3rd, 2007

How much time, energy and effort are you spending on trying to figure out why something cannot be done, instead of just getting it done?

Simply stated,

Find a way to do it

Stop looking at why it cannot be done

Just do it.

Sounds simple enough, yet so many of us just plain don’t get the things we really need to done.

What keeps holding you back from the success you know you want?

The success you know you can accomplish, if only?

Are you settling for less than you know you want, simply because it seems you should?

Are you accepting less than you know you really want?

How do the big three fit in?

  • Procrastination

  • Lack of discipline

  • Struggling with your weaknesses

Don’t we all hate those words, yet we all let them get the best of us.

How?

Procrastination

Personally, I was very lucky to have worked for an entrepreneur early in my career who beat me up for not making decisions.

Note, not for making the wrong decision,

but for not making any decision.

He taught me a very powerful lesson –

Make a decision

You see, if you make the wrong decision, you can just make another decision

But, if you don’t make a decision, you will sit in the middle of the lake all day long.

You will continue to be and stay right where you are .

If you don’t make a decision, your business and life will never get to where you want it.

Lack of discipline

This is actually the easiest one of the three to simply solve.

When I was in the Marines, it was simply you had to do it, there was no let me think about it, you did it. In battle you do not have time to think about it, you have to have

the discipline that:

if you are told to stop – you stop

if you are told to run, you run,

if you are told to fall down, you do it quickly.

You don’t think about it, you don’t question it, you simply do it.

In business and life, if you have decided to do something, then do it.

I spend a great deal of my time coaching business owners.

The number one thing I do is keep them accountable.

As a business owner, you can do what you want when you want. Now, I did not say that would take you to success but you do have the option.

Yet, to be successful, you have to do what you said you were going to do, when you said you where going to do it.

Stop setting goals and not chasing them.

Stop setting goals and being like the 90% of the people

who set goals and never look at them again after January 15th.

1. Develop the vision

2. Define the goals to get you there.

3. Put the action plan together.

4. Build the measurements

5. And do it.

The first 4 are easy.

The fifth one is the one we just cannot discipline ourselves to do.

Struggles with our weaknesses

This is not a bad thing,

it is simply something we have to recognize and then fix.

Please listen.

You can never get great at what you suck at.

So, instead, concentrate on what you are good at, get great at that and find another way to get what you suck at done.

How many of you have spent at least one night this week in the office struggling with something you just plain suck at?

Accounting

Sales calls

Writing

Speaking

Sucking at something does not mean you cannot do it.

It simply means you are not any good at it.

You might be able to do QuickBooks – but to enter your data it takes you 6 hours a week.

If you hired an expert you could get it done in 1 hour. Now, what should you be doing?

How much sleep have you lost thinking about your business or life?

How much could you get done, if you could concentrate on your strengths?

We all have strengths

We all have our weaknesses.

The critical decision – how do you deal with it, how do you use it to propel your business.

1. Define what you are great at.

2. Define what you suck at

3. Define which of the above have to get done.

4. Spend 80 percent of your time on what you are

great at that has to be done.

5. Dump what you suck at that does not need to

be done.

6. Find some other way to get done what you suck

at that has to be done.

Have I got you interested?

Have I got you thinking?

Have a got you mad (either at me or at yourself)

You know mad people do one of two things?

They either take what they are mad at and create

something positive

or

They create a negative experience and sink like

a rock in the ocean.

Which are you going to do?

Guess what.

Time to stop procrastinating

Time to make a decision.
