Website Traffic, Website Leads and Website Closed Deals – are all three working for you?

Posted in Uncategorized by Manny on July 20th, 2009

One of the hottest subjects in most conversations today is the Internet
and how to generate business using it. Every day we hear about websites,
SEO, Social Networking, Email, Newsletter, Social Media, Twitter, Facebook,
etc, etc, etc. I don’t know about you, but I tend to get confused.

How is a sane person to survive?
What does all this mean?
How can I figure it out?
How can I understand it and use it to help my business?

Today we want to look at these three simple pieces of sales:  Web Traffic,
Web Leads and Web deals.  See how they relate to selling using the Internet.
This is just a simple overview and that is all it is suppose to be. More
information is available and if you need it, just let me know and we will
connect you with the right resources to help you.  The experts.

The three pieces are:

1. Getting traffic to your site.
2. Once you get the traffic there, how to you generate a lead? How do you
get the person to call or to send you an email?
3. Once you get the lead, how do you turn it into a piece of business? How
do you a closed deal.

The key in all this is that to be successful you need all three of these and all
three of these must be working effectively. You can have 10,000 hits a day on
your site, yet if no one does anything to get connected with you, what does
that do for you. Further you can have 100 calls a days and 200 emails,
if they do not turn into a closed deal, what good is that.

So, to be successful, you need the traffic, the conversion to leads, and the
conversion to closed business. Let’s look at each one of these.

1. Getting traffic to your site
This can be through the work of your SEO - Search Engine Optimization
vendor.
It can be from using Pay Per Click.
It can be links on other sites.
It can be links in directories.
It can be from email you send out.
It can be from Blogs, yours or others.

Bottom line is, someone is coming to your site because of something they
saw.  This is critical. This is someone looking at you. It all starts here. You
have to get people to your site in order for them to take the next step.

2. Making the looker, into a lead.
This is when the person is on your site and they take some action.
This is when they call you.
This is when they fill out a form and you get an email.
This is when they are giving you the information you need to contact them,
or they are contacting you directly.

Now you can move forward to create business.

You can have all the hits you want on your site, but if they do not take
some action to connect with you, they are worthless.

3. Turning an Internet lead into a closed deal.
Now the rubber meets the road.
Now we turn on our sales machine.
A few things we have learned about this phase.
a.  You have to respond quickly to the lead. They have a need now.
Respond now.
b.  If they give you a phone number, call them.
c.  Send an email our right away to let them know you got their info.
d.  Send them what they requested - today.
e.  Design and develop a follow up program and stay connected with them
forever.

Caution on number three. Just because they got to your site and they took
some action, still does not mean they are the right type of prospect. You still
have to qualify, sell and close them.

It is important that you look at all three of these points and you adjust all
three of these as needed starting from the bottom up.

If you are not getting the right type of prospects, then go back and check your
site to see what you are saying and make the changes you feel will better
qualify the prospect.

If you are not getting people to take action, go back and make sure the action
is well defined. Then go back and make sure the people who come to your site
are the right type of people. Adjust your visibility on the Internet.

And finally, if you are not getting enough traffic to your site, then you need to
take action to generate more traffic.

I hope this has given you a better feel for what you need to do to get business
from the Internet. Just remember that this is a field changing exponentially
every week. If you want to play in this field, then get the right players to help
you.

You can’t fix it if you keep focused on how broke it is!

Posted in Uncategorized by Manny on July 1st, 2009

My car broke down.
It is busted.
It does not run.
It has a problem.
Something is wrong with it.

Will any of the above statements do anything to fix my car?
Of course not, it is silly to think they will.
All these statements will do is keep me focused on the fact that my car
is broke.

What should I be doing, when my car is broke down?
I need to be focused on:

    Getting it fixed
Getting the money to pay for getting it fixed.
Getting it fixed as soon as possible

That is it - that is what I have to do.

Now you’re asking me, “Manny, of course that is what we would do, that
is just plain and simple common sense”.

Is it?

Then why do I read the newspaper with this headline:

USA Today 7/1/2009
Small businesses vital to economic recovery go bankrupt

The main theme of the article: How in the past small business and
entrepreneurs have lead the recover but not this time. They are going
bankrupt, fewer people are starting them and existing firms are struggling.

So what.

Hasn’t it always been that way?
Haven’t small businesses always had these problems?
Fact is many small businesses have these problems even when the economy
is doing well.

Fact is - none of this will stop the small businesses from leading the recovery.

Why?

Because just like in the story above about the broken car, instead of focus
on the problem, small business is focused on the solution. Small business
owners are looking for the answers. Small business owners are innovative
and have always thought outside the box (even before it was popular).

How about you?

Are you focused on the problem?
Or are you focused on the solution.

The amazing thing is that I have many clients who are doing excellent
during this economic time.  Growing and expanding. Creating profit.
Having a great time.

Why?

Because they are and have been focused on the opportunity this economy
is creating not the problems it is generating.

They are fixing their businesses, not sitting around talking about it.
They are finding the money, not complaining because they do not have any.
They are moving quickly, because this great opportunity will only last so long.

Remember the car story and start taking the action you need to make
it happen, TODAY.

Are you ready to get your team, organization or association rolling forward.
Are you ready to help them pump up and generate the right attitude in them?
