Pumping UP sales in a down economic time – you can do great
Where is your creativity?
Where is your spirit that nothing will keep you down?
Where is that drive that got you here?
Last week we talked attitude – today we talk action.
Let’s take a moment and listen in to some of the
conversations taking place today.
“This economy sucks – I just cannot make any sales”
“What am I suppose to do? People are not buying and
it is that simple”
“What do you want me to do, give the product away -
people don’t have money to buy”
Three conversations that are taking you nowhere.
Yes, the economy sucks – SO WHAT?
Yes, people are not using out their credit cards as
they where 2 years ago – YOUR POINT IS?
Yes, you might have to give somethings away -
AND WHAT IS STOPPING YOU?
So, what are you doing to sell into a bad economy?
What are you doing to make yourself different?
What are you doing to make it happen for you?
How many have heard of brainstorming. If you have
a team, then sit them in a room and do not let them
out until they come up with 20 ways to make it happen.
If you don’t have a team, the use the concept from a
mentor of mine, Brain Tracy, called mindstorming.
Very much the same as brain storming except you
are the only one involved.
In both cases you take a piece of paper and write the
question at the top.
How do we generate new business over then next 6 months
in our company?
Now number 1-20 down the left side and fill in the blank
Do not judge the answers
Do not think about the answers
Just write them down.
It does not matter how crazy, wild or unreal they may sound.
Key is – you cannot quit until you get 20.
Key is – 16-20 are usually your best ones.
Now once all done, then go back, analysis the answers and
find 3-5 you can do.
And start doing them.
Think different
Think of what would move you
Think (hate to use the term) outside the box
You have the Internet.
Do some searching.
Type in as I did and see the crazy/amazing things you find.
“how to make money in a recession” 779,000 hits
“how to make money in bad economy” 6,680,000 hits
“selling in bad economic times” 1,770,000 hits
Stop your hesitation – see some things people are doing to
make money
Remember, bad economic times mean:
More opportunity, less competition, and a much larger upside
Instead of looking at it as they did in our examples above -
look at it as a great opportunity and start working it.
